As already reported, Trading Hub Europe (THE) was commissioned by the Federal Republic of Germany at the beginning of March to procure and store LNG in a volume of up to a maximum of EUR 1.5 billion. THE was always in close coordination with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). In accordance with the order, THE began procurement immediately after the conclusion of the contract. THE has published details of this on its website. Among other things, the transparent and competitive procedure that was carried out is described there. A double-digit number of interested parties and bidders took part in the process. The contracted gas quantities are made available to THE in the agreed storage facilities. The further procedure and the use of the contracted gas quantities are already being coordinated between THE and the client. THE is also in contact with the BMWK in order to make a decision about any further procurements at a later date.
